We just returned home from the third annual Smughes Family reunion at the Heber Valley Camp. We started the festivities with a group lunch on Thursday afternoon at the Whitakers house after which we caravaned up to the campground. After a lengthy orientation by "sargent friendly" we were finally able to begin our adventure in our "plush" family campsite. But honestly, we couldn't really call it camping because the facilities included everything you can imagine down to a refrigerator and hot running water on site. On Friday we went on a fun little hike to the Heber Valley Overlook which was quite a sight. Gavin did a pretty good job walking, but as you can see in the picture, he didn't last long and I got quite a workout. Then later that afternoon we were able to participate in a challenge course with the majority of the family. I got to do the cable walk and let me tell you, the harness was real comfortable. Gavin even got to participate in the lower level group challenges and made it across the shark infested water to shark island. He had a blast and was not happy when it came time to leave. We had a great time spending the evenings around the campfire thanks to Kaysha taking all the kids in her cabin letting the adults have some fun times without listening to whining kids. And as with any family gathering, there was plenty of laughs and gas to go around. We had tons of fun and are looking forward to next years reunion.
The cabins we had were really nice. We had electricity and everyone had their own bunk. Grant and I slept on a mattress on the floor, but Gavin loved having his own bed.

Is there anything wrong here? Carrying two kids uphill was a serious test of my leg strength.

Looks like lots of work-- but fun. Super mom trudging up the hill with 2 kids-- makes me tired thinking about it. Sorry we didn't commect when you were in WA. I had to work extra for some $ to pay bills.

Wow, Karen, Blogging already? I need a day to recoup. Thanks so much for all your preparation and work in making this event so much fun. It is great to be able to just sit back and enjoy. It was great fun wasn't it? Grandpa was so thrilled to be Gavin's buddy up there. Reese was a trooper. btw, where is Grant in the hiking pic? Why did you have both kids? lol I am teasing Grant. You are a great daddy.
